Why Redding Adventist Academy

As you consider schools for your child, it is important to know if our goals match those for your family, as well as what you can expect at our school.

Our Purpose

We exist to help students grow towards their highest potential as Christ followers through character building and experiential learning that addresses the whole student––mental, physical, spiritual and social.

Luke 2:52 encapsulates this vision: To grow in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man.

Christ Followers

While academic progress and physical well-being are easier to track, spiritual growth is more difficult to measure—yet it remains central to everything we do.

It begins with teachers and staff who are deeply committed to Jesus and eager to share His love with students and their families. Each day includes classroom worship, and each week features chapel services. Our Bible classes are designed to help students cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus and develop a strong Biblical worldview. Students also have regular opportunities to live out their faith by serving others—within their school, church, and the broader community.

By keeping Christ at the heart of our mission, we find that our students not only grow spiritually but also thrive academically, reaching their full learning potential.

Character Builders

We are in the business of building Christ-following leaders for our community and the world.  This starts by connecting students with Jesus so He can shape their hearts. It continues with intentionality in developing character.

Critical thinking –– Students will learn to think for themselves rather than reflect other people's thoughts.
"Test everything. Hold on to what is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Collaboration –– Student will learn to use cooperation and teamwork and the sharing of ideas, knowledge and skills to reach common goals.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor." Ecclesiastes 4:9

Courage –– Student will learn to stand up for what is right and kind.
"Be strong and courageous and do the work... for God is with you." 1 Chronicles 28.20

Compassion –– Student will learn empathy and desire to help others.
"Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12

Experiential Learners

Although books are valuable tools for learning, we find that students become more engaged, gain a deeper understanding, and retain information better when they learn through hands-on experiences.

That’s why our teachers go beyond textbooks, seeking creative and active ways to teach essential skills and standards.

The specifics change from year to year and between grade levels, but some examples include:

  • Gardening –– daily for all elementary grades
  • Mt. Lassen –– earth science
  • Pacific Coast –– biology
  • Washington, DC –– history
  • Overnight canoeing and camping trips –– sciences
  • Leoni Meadows Camp –– science and social studies
  • Rock-N-Water –– science and social studies
  • Wolf Mountain –– science and social studies
  • Outdoor classrooms –– for elementary grades

The staff was able to step up and help me to encourage a positive learning environment for my child that she has not previously had. She feels the love and that she is in a safe place. She is thriving and successfully moving forward with her education and walk with Jesus.

The staff cares and connects with students and gets to know them all. It truly feels like a family. The emphasis on outdoor activity and exercise is important to me, as well as the extracurricular activities offered. RAA teaches students in the ways they learn best –– hands-on, integrative lessons and plenty of active time.
