ELEMENTARY LEVEL
Students enrolled in grades one through eight receive instruction in reading, writing, math, spelling language arts, social studies, science, fine arts, physical education, and religion.
In addition to the academic curriculum, elementary students begin the study of music in kindergarten with singing and rhythm games. This continues through second grade. Third and fourth graders start learning how to read notes and play the chimes and recorder. In the fifth and sixth grades, students make instrument selections for band where they continue to develop their ability to read music.
Each year students from kindergarten throught sixth grade produce a Christian musical. A recent program was "Acorn to Oaks" which was about little habits that can trip up kids. The kids collected canned goods for the Good News Rescue Mission at the performance and helped load them in a truck afterwards.
Because of student and parent interest, RAA supports an elementary choir which practices after school. Twenty children participate in this choir where they learn three-part harmony. The choir performes in churches and is part of the chorus in the annual RAA Broadway musical.
Middle school students - grades seven and eight - have the opportunity to continue with band and also participate in choir and handbells, if they choose. Many of these students are involved in all three. They have their own choir, band and handbells choir. |
