REDDING ADVENTST ACADEMY

“We chose RAA for the hands-on, discovery-based education, the K-12 campus, a music program that encourages musical exploration for all grades, the size and scope of the library, the strong personal commitment to each student from every teacher -- every child is encouraged and nurtured by a team of teachers - and the sense of belonging to a community. There is a genuine open arms culture, a welcome to all families and a commitment to giving back to the community.”Faith Affiliation -- non-denominational

“We had been home schooling our children and were in the process of selecting a Christian school. My daughter would not have liked having to wear skirts at Liberty, and we just weren’t sure about Redding Christian. I happened to stop by RAA one day when I was driving by. Dena was so kind and told me everything I needed to know. She suggested that I come back with my children on a pizza day. When we showed up, my daughter was swept away by the 7th and 8th grade girls. I also talked to several teachers. It was one of those days when my cheeks hurt so much from smiling. I also received a phone call from Debbie Hanley which was a real plus. I had a lot of questions which she answered.”Faith affiliation -- non-denominational

"Having my kids at RAA is like taking them back 50 years in time to the way public schools used to be. Being at RAA forestalls their having to face issues like drugs, gang activity and premarital sex. I like the fact that they're more sheltered at RAA. RAA also has a strong academic program. The best way for me to illustrate this is through a friend who took her child out of RAA so he could be in the ski program that his father coached at the public school. She told me that his level of academy ability was so strong, that he just coasted when he got to public school. But because of this slack time, he lost his focus on academy achievement. RAA is a small school, so students get to participate in all aspects of campus life such as music, sports and leadership. These opportunities are important for each child to have. And the teachers at RAA take a personal interest in all of the kids. They truly care about each one."faith affiliation - Seventh-day Adventist

"My child has been at RAA for eleven years. When I began looking at Christian schools, I was most impressed with RAA. I just like the attitude and receptiveness I found there. I had a real sense of confidence with RAA, and I've never regretted my decision. RAA has been such a supportive environment for my daughter. All the teachers know her and genuinely seem to care about her and want her to be successful. RAA was good at helping identify her ADD (attention deficit disorder). It's been huge. No one's child will ever get lost in the cracks at RAA. It's not like a child could take off and people wouldn't know the difference. It's very comforting to know that you don't have to have ESP or be a detective to know what's going on with your child. There are just so many positives at RAA - the variety of the curriculum and the extracurricular activities. It's really incredible for such a small school. And all the kids have a chance to participate. Your child doesn't have to have been playing basketball since he or she was three to make the team.
The whole idea of having you Christina values re-enforced at school is important to me. We're not Adventist, and RAA appreciates this, but we've been welcomed with open arms."

RAA Has a really unusual family atmosphere that parents and teachers create. The teachers truly care about the students' whole well-being not just their scholastic development. They want to see each child succeed. Parents and teachers at RAA take a personal interest in each child and their family. This seems to be a unique attribute - the sharing and caring you find at RAA. If, as a parent, you can't attend a field trip, you don't have to be worried, because there are at least ten parents who will look after your child. I was at a basketball game one night and a woman from the other school asked me which player was my son. I said, 'none of them but all of them.' She looked a little suprised. I told her, 'we care for all of them as if they were our own.' RAA has so many programs that are unique to the school. For example, the K-12 ski program. It's special to see the bonding that takes place between the young kids and the older ones and with the parents.faith affiliation - Seventh-day Adventist

"I was looking for a school that would give my children a good moral foundation. I looked at all the other schools around, but I wanted a school that was more open. At RAA I can go on campus whenever I want, and those who work there are always acailable to parents. RAA is very positive and supportive. The other thing I like is taht a child is not just another student at RAA. They're not simply someone sitting in the classroom. They're more than that. There's a real sense of family unity at RAA. Once when my youngest went skiing with the school, I didn't get to go. But, I wasn't concerned, because I knew the other parents would take good care of him. Families are really involved in the life of the school. Plus the kids get many experiences at RAA the wouldn't have somewhere else, nine years, and I love it. The adventist faith is 100% Bible-based, but even if you're not an Adventist, you don't feel left out. Those who are Adventists are living their faith but they don't push it to you."faith affiliation - Baptist

We actually moved from Colorado, where we had a perfect life, a perfect medical practice, even a view of Pikes Peak, but we had been looking for a K-12 school, and we heard about RAA. We've been nothing but pleased. Someone asked me if I liked my son's teacher this year and I told her yes, but that I had liked his teacher last year. The teachers at RAA are wonderful. RAA places a great emphasis on music. The program is outstanding, and the music teacher Debbi Alexander is awesome. I hope we never lose her! RAA also has wonderful, educational field trips, like going to the Albion Science Camp on the coast to explore the tide pools and to the gold country to learn about the history of California. Kids also go to the plays at the Cascade. You see some schools there, but you know there are others that are missing it. I think RAA must be the only school tat offers a hot lunch everyday, except Friday because school is out at noon. Lunch costs $2.50 for small kids and $3.00 for older kids. that's really a deal for me.faith affilation - Seventh-day Adventist

"I liked the feeling of RAA right off the bat. When I found out the school has teachers with credentials, I was sold. My son has blossomed there. He had all but given up music when he came. Now he sings with the choir and has a role in the annual Broadway musical. I also like the way the teachers are always praying with the kids, Before and during activities. They don't rub their noses in it. They do it very appropriately."faith affiliation - Baptist
