"Giving Back" Homeless Ministry - On a cool and rainy August day, RAA students ministered to Redding's homeless and needy at the "Giving Back" event at Library Park. Students served lunch, handed out clothes and toiletry items, repaired bikes, gave manicures and pedicures, and prayed with individuals. "Today I saw God's hands and feet," says Bible teacher Devanne White. "It was incredibly moving." Click here for more photos.

"The Prince of Egypt" Benefits the Good News Rescue Mission - On Thursday, April 22, 2010, Redding Adventist Academy performed an original production of "The Prince of Egypt" as a benefit for the Good News Rescue Mission. Over 250 community members attended the event which raised almost $2000 for the Mission. The Mission's Community Relations Director Ken White said, "What a production! I was deeply impressed. My kids loved it. My wife loved it. Everyone I talked to loved it!" "The Prince of Egypt" tells the inspirational story of Moses and features songs by renowned lyricist and composer Stephen Schwartz. RAA's production used video special effects including a backdrop of the parting of the Red Sea. Click here to see photos.

Student Ambassadors Represent RAA at Community Events - Student Ambassadors volunteered their services at the 2009 Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and the 2010 Sierra Cascade Logging Conference. They are selected by their teachers for strong character and leadership skills and their ability to represent the school in a positive manner. This activity enhances opportunities for college admissions, financial aid, grants, and scholarships.

Lighted Float Joins Christmas Parade - The RAA bell choir charmed spectators at Redding's 2009 Christmas parade playing "Jingle Bells" on a float engineered by Parent Charlie Brown. He created solid stands for the bells and even had lighting for the music. Parents and friends of the school gathered at the staging area prior to the parade and followed the float to the start on California Street. Those accompanying the float passed out candy canes. Enroute Celebrates in Monterey - Over the last several months the Christian band Enroute has performed at Monterey Bay Academy and Rio Lindo Academy. The musicians enjoyed some time on the beach after playing for the youth Sabbath Service at MBA. The group also had the program at the Palo Cedro church's contemporary service The Journey in late November.

International Students - RAA hosts international students from a number of different countries including France, Holland, Korea, and Thailand. This program gives families and students the opportunity to learn about other cultures and to build lasting relationships with those from other countries. An RAA student has become fast friends with the student from France.

Bible Conference - Juniors and seniors attended the annual Bible Conference at Leoni Meadows this Fall. They returned raving about the speaker who kept them engaged with story after story about a godly life. One student appreciated the time to focus on God with no distractions. Another felt much closer to God after the retreat. A senior came away knowing that he could get through anything with God's help.

Choir and Bells Perform - Under the direction of Music Teacher Diana Hardin, RAA music students performed a full program of sacred music for the Anderson Seventh-day Adventist Church this November. The elementary choir sang its own musical selection as did the high school choir. The junior and senior hand bell choirs also participated in the program.
